Shhh! Don't tell anyone but this is deffo one of my favourite songs on the EP ;)

I wrote this song thinking of all the people in my Crichton Clan, front and centre. I'd received a few emails and stories from members of the Clan, explaining how much of a rough time they'd been having, either at work, or at home, or in relationships, and I really wanted to do something to lift their spirits.

The lyrics to this song are based around Maya Angelou's writings about the Caged Bird and the contrast between the oppressed and the free in society. Before I became a musician I definitely felt the oppression and shackles of my former profession and the daily grind and toll it took on me. With Raise You Up, I wanted to inject some positivity and release into YOUR day, and also to impart from fighting spirit. You are beautiful, you are awesome, let's chill together with this song and come out the other side fighting!
